Found this on Brandnama’s blog. Sounds fun to me. Here’s my effort:
Apple
Buick
Caterpillar
Delta
Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Fudruckers
General Electric
Halliburton
Igloo
Jaegermeister
Kong Pet Toys
Land’s End
Microsoft
NBC
Odor Eaters
Pixar
Qantas
Rain Bird
Safeway
Tupperware
Union Pacific
Verizon
Westinghouse
Xerox
YouTube
Zenith
A few interesting things here:
- The list really says a lot about a person. Brandnama and I have only one company (Xerox) in common.
- I bet that in about a year this list will be much different for me. Going from a married guy with a dog to a married guy with a kid and a dog will probably change my exposure to brands significantly. I can imagine that Gerber, Huggies, and other similar products will place well in coming lists.
- Regardless of anything else this list may imply, I do not have stinky feet.

Here is my list: http://www.popwink.com/?p=508
I have no idea where I pulled Yanni out of.
This is not as easy as it seems. Especially the X and Y are difficult, but my list is here: http://www.markeys.nl/weblog/285/the-name-game.
You make a good statement that the list says something about the person and the list is variable in time and place. Let’s play this game again in the summer and see what for brand are in our heads than.
Thanks gang… I’ll do this again in a few months and see what happens.

Again I notice that there are many brands I don’t know… and many that I wouldn’t think of for a good couple hours.
Guess I’ve got my work cut out for me. Off to check out http://www.ngu.com.
Hi Tate,
I realize this comes late, but it’s gnu, not “ngu” -my bad. Looky here: http://www.gnu.com/
Now, am I allowed to substitute ‘Nakamichi’ for my original answer?
No problem, SDW.
If revisionism weren’t legal then politicians would occasionally make mistakes.
