It gets easier, right?

I name things for a living. And I blog... And I enjoy both.

Today, however, I found out that by June 14th I'm gonna have a little kid... my own little kid (shared with my wife, of course.)

Apologies to both clients and blog readers, but even though I've known for about 8 months that there would be a day when I'd have a kid, just knowing that we have an assured last day on which our new kiddo can arrive has made me completely incapable of original thought.

If my kid were born today there is a definite possibility I'd succumb to a name like Aidan or Apple just because I can't think straight.

Weird that something so seemingly insignficant as a date on a calendar can throw me for a loop...

I plan on being myself again tomorrow. Really.

Tate,
I too am addicted the The Office. I also have a 5 month-old Great Niece named Mara. Needless to say, she's the prettiest baby ever conceived. And she smiles at me and your heart wants to break.
Last night my niece (Mara's mommy) and I decided to watch the Office Season Finale' together. Apparently Mara is a big fan too. She did NOT want to go to bed. She was smiling and drooling and making those adorable baby noises during the entire episode. I was so conflicted. I wanted to watch the show but man -- she was so fascinating. I had to watch her. You won't get that moment back (and the office you can download on iTunes).
You'll be the best daddy. Congrats!

Congrats !! Nothing like children....the good and the bad. I only have one that is 10 now but he sure changed my life...for the good. Good Luck !

Thanks for the kind wishes all.
Just put the kid-seat in the car last night and am compulsively packing various bags for what appears to be a two week stay at the hospital. My lovely wife insists that all we need is an overnighter bag. I, however, have concluded that we must consider every possible complication or happening. Kid pops out and can already read (after all the reading I did to Sarah in the past 9 months?) gotta have books! And music! And what if the kiddo can't sleep? Gotta have a mobile! And maybe one of those seats that vibrates. And... extra containers of gasoline in case we're low. And directions to alternate hospitals if there's a problem with ours. And, uh... I've heard that pillows are important (wrapped in plastic!) and so are receiving blankets. And diapers.
I don't care if we only live three miles from the hospital. If I forget something that's six miles of driving without my lil kiddo. S. I. X. That's a whole lot of feet to go in search of our Tsunami survival kit (with directions in English, Japanese, and perhaps Yiddish?) and who is to say that I'll get back in time to manually inflate the darn thing? (I figure everyone else will be at the gas stations pumping up their own kits, so I'll be left to my own devices. I've thought this through.)
