Lectures, Talks & Panels

We spend a lot of time on the road spreading the word about how to best use words. We love to name stuff - and to talk about naming stuff. Here's just a small sampling of the companies that have taken part in our sessions: * Accenture * Canon * Deloitte * EMC * Fujitsu * HP * IBM * Kodak * The Washington Post * Xerox (click link below for more...)

APPA

The formerly-named Association of Physical Plant Administrators needed a way to answer the question "what is APPA" and was looking for an answer that didn't involve the archaic "Physical Plant" or even "Administrators" concepts. We performed a thorough name exploration and helped the APPA team to select a tagline that answered the question without needing to reference the original meaning behind the name. The answer? "Leadership in Educational Facilities."

Blush Ultralounge

Take one tertiary market (a.k.a. smallish town) and the company that owns The Tropicana. Try to figure out how to make a progressive and trendy nightclub feel a little bit frisky and naughty without offending the existing Baby Boomer clients going to the riverboat casino across the street. "Blush" gives 'em all the connotations they want with none of the offensive bits. (And just try to find a table for four on a weekend, now!)

UTILIMETRICS

The Automated Meter Reading Association needed a new name that not only would help them bring their identity into the twenty-first century, but could serve as a new industry identifier (helping them to avoid referencing the "old box with dials in the basement" and "guy in overalls" mental imagery.) Out with "metering" and in with "metrics." Utility metrics. UTILIMETRICS.

emPivot: View Green from Every Angle

Is it possible to name a "green" web-video company without resorting to eco/green/bio naming crutches? We think so. We helped the Ecofusion team name and position their new service in a crowded marked of "me too" names. The service empowers changes in perspective. The name? emPivot. (Tagline: "View Green from Every Angle.")

webmeadow

What do you call a web design firm with a fresh attitude, operating in the wilds of New Hampshire, and ... oh yeah ... running entirely off of solar power? We developed the new name and brand strategy for this promising young tech firm. (We liked 'em and their concept so much we had 'em build our own website!)

Surge

What does it take to get a small business past the roadblocks on the way to success? Well, you can hire a business process consultant that will take a look, provide some recommendations, and disappear while you attempt to implement their plan. Or you could hire these guys. They've got just the right force to break through...

Where's My Company?

Okay folks... forgive our lack of detail here. We're a little company with a big job and we're not always as good as we should be about bragging about our awesome selves. We really do plan on bragging a bit more about our work here, but we're currently too busy working to spend the time. (Check back soonish, though.)
