I just got back from the awards banquet and it was quite a show. Great to see so much support from the community - there were 29 sponsors of the event for 16 entrants. The event was hosted by the Community Business Partnership and is part of Business Appreciation Week (an event sponsored by Virginia's Department of Business Assistance.) Lots of people there, and some great concepts were presented.
The three equal winners were
Shanel Evans of DIVA Shop, LLC, Monica Tomasso of Health e-Lunch Kids, and Heidi Willard of Scrapbooks That Teach. I'm truly looking forward to working with each of them on their branding issues - whether they want to think about taglines or establish the core values of their brands. I encourage you to take a look at their sites and maybe even send them a note of congratulations. Each of them won more than $5000 in products and services for their efforts and ideas!
Think you've got a Virginia-based business plan that is promising but could use some outside assistance? Let me know and I'll put you in touch with the folks who ran this year's contest - the contest isn't just for a prize - every single participant had their plan read and reviewed by at least 6 judges. That's the kind of shot in the arm that can turn a business plan from tin into gold. Edit: Please don't try that at home. Mixing metaphors such as the one above can cause life-threatening injuries - usually from your college English teacher. Tate Linden Principal Consultant Stokefire Consulting Group 703-778-9925 |
