Sure, we've named services, products, and companies. We love doing it and it gets us noticed, but when we want a real challenge we turn to the world of associations.

Associations, membership groups, and non-profits often require buy-in or membership approval before a new identity is adopted. The number of yes votes required can exceed hundreds of thousands. In situations like these just hiring your Average Joe (or Jane) namer won't get you a name that works.  You need more than a name - you need support and momentum on a massive scale. 

The key is to involve the membership without ceding control of the project. Few namers know how to wrangle thousands of members, include them in the development of the name, and help them to rally behind a single concept that unifies the organization.
